AUTHOR Katie Fforde topped the bill as Horsfall House in Minchinhampton held its Summer Fete on Sunday September 11.

The last of the summer sun shone overhead as the care home on Windmill Road opened up its gardens and welcomed hundreds to the popular annual event.

Visitors enjoyed pony rides, steam engine rides, children’s games and bouncy castle, face painting and many stalls.

Entertainment came from the music of Wotton-Under-Edge Silver Band and dancing by pupils from Minchinhampton School.

There were plenty of refreshments with Winstones ice-cream, traditional cream teas and the popular beer tent.

Local town-crier Tony Evans was also on hand to direct visitors in his unique way.

The fete successfully raised several thousand pounds which will be used to support the free respite care the home offers.

Fundraising Co-ordinator at Horsfall House, John Jutsum, said “It was a wonderful afternoon, once again the dedication and hard work of all the volunteers came together to make the fete a great success.

“It was wonderful to see the gardens full of people and to see them smiling and enjoying themselves”.
