NEW faces are greeting visitors to a café tucked in the heart of Stroud centre.
Suzanne and Christian Atkins have taken over Mills Café, nestled in a sprawling courtyard off The Shambles.
The couple, both in their 50s and who married three years ago, took on the enterprise to see more of each other.
As a primary school teacher Suzanne was always free in the summer but it was Chris’ busiest period. Being in the ice cream business, the summer months were prime time for working the crowds at festivals.
While Suzanne and Christian hope to keep much about the café exactly as it is, they are keen to make a few adjustments.
Already they have switched coffee producers to Gloucester-based Ethical Addictions, and they are also hoping to introduce a breakfast menu offering continental and Mediterranean-style feasts.
And for early birds en route to work they will have WiFi until 11am to enable professionals to check the internet while picking up their coffee to go.
Mills Café will be open Monday to Saturday, 7.45am-4.30pm. It will be closed on Sundays.
