A BUSY road in Cainscross will be closed while crews resurface the entire pothole-ridden street.

Highway crews will arrive at Cashes Green Road this Friday October 28 to lay more than 3000 square meters of new tarmac.

The work is planned to be complete by Wednesday November 2.

The road closure will be in place from the junction with Hyett Road to the junction with Westward Road between 9.30am till 3.30pm on the weekdays.

Access will be maintained for pedestrians and local businesses will be open as usual.

Customers of the Co-op foodstore, the Co-op pharmacy, the Factory Outlet Shop and the Co-op nursery will not be able to access the car park during the hours of the road closure and are encouraged to park nearby.

Cllr Vernon Smith, cabinet member for highways and flood said: “These are important improvements for Cashes Green Road and while I know there’ll be some disruption while the work is carried out, it will be worth it when the work is finished.

“We’ve listened to local people and we’ve planned to do the resurfacing at off peak times to help the shops and businesses, and the travelling public. Thank you for bearing with us while we get the work done.”

Cllr Brian Oosthuysen local county councillor for Rodborough said, “I’m happy that this essential work is being completed, and it’s down to the efforts of local people who have been pushing for them.

“I hope that the work is carried out safely and promptly, and I’ve been assured that local residents and businesses can contact the council, or myself, if they have any concerns during the work period.”

If you require further information about this work please call 08000 514514.

The county council's highway crews work around the clock every day of the year to keep Gloucestershire safe and moving.
