A 79-YEAR-OLD man died after collapsing outside Tesco Express in Paganhill this afternoon.

An ambulance, paramedic vehicle and fire truck were called to the supermarket on Stratford Road around 1pm.

The man suffered a suspected cardiac arrest.

His body was covered with a tarpaulin and the car park was closed off to public.

A police spokesman said: “A 79-year-old man collapsed at Tesco Express, Stratford Road earlier today and an ambulance was called.

“Unfortunately the man died at the scene.

“There are no suspicious circumstances and the Coroner’s Office are dealing with it.”

The fire crew were called due to the close proximity of Stroud Fire Station of Paganhill Lane.

The area has now been cleared.
