A BUDDING young artist from Stroud has won a competition to design her own dream home.

Seven-year-old Emma Wilson’s winning drawing came top in the county-wide competition organized by Stroud and Nailsworth Estate Agent Peter Joy.

Entries flooded in from across the area and the team of judges had a tough decision choosing the winner.

The Peter Joy team were joined by Gloucestershire architects Millar Howard Workshop for the final round of judging.

Emma’s colourful hand-drawn house was chosen as the winning design and features solar panels and heart-shaped doors.

Head judge Jake Mortlock, director at Peter Joy said: "Whilst it truly was a difficult decision to choose an overall winner Emma's entry was both colourful and she had thought of the environment in her truly sunny design."

Emma won £25 book vouchers and her winning entry will be on Peter Joy Sales and Letting Boards for 2017 and on the windows in the Stroud and Nailsworth branches.

Currently a display of a selection of entries can be seen in the Nailsworth Branch.

Launched in the summer the competition celebrates the upcoming 20th birthday for family-run business Peter Joy.

Peter Joy opened in Stroud in 1997, by its founder Peter who sadly died. Partner Phillipa Kenzie joined in 2000 opening the Nailsworth branch.

The 20th birthday, kicking off in January is a way to celebrate all that has happened in those two decades and look out for celebrations across the year.
