POLICE have issued a fresh appeal for witnesses after an armed robbery at the Co-op in King's Stanley.

Officers have trawled CCTV in the area but the thieves who got away with thousands of pounds have yet to be traced.

Three men wearing balaclavas entered the store at 9.45pm on Wednesday armed with an iron bar.

They escorted staff into an office where they demanded that they open the safe and got away with thousands of pounds.

Staff were not physically harmed but police said they were left distressed and shaken.

A police spokeswoman said: "No arrests have been made at the time and our enquiries continue.

"Officers have trawled CCTV in the area and spoken to local residents and businesses to offer reassurance and seek witnesses.

"Anyone with information who hasn't yet spoken to police should call 101 quoting incident 494 of 30 November."

The first man, carrying the iron bar, is described as white, in his late 20s, with blue eyes, around 5 foot 10, of a slim build and wearing all black clothing.

The second offender was around 5 foot 6, in his mid 30s, of a stocky build, also wearing black.

There is little description of the third man but he was also wearing black clothing.
