ONLY two weeks into 2017, The Subscription Rooms in Stroud has already proven its immense popularity with the local community.
So far eight of the arts venue’s many workshops and classes on art, craft, health and wellbeing have been completely booked up.
To deal with the increasing demand, bosses at the Sub Rooms are now putting a call out to experienced teachers and craftspeople to join them in providing a supportive environment to nurture the town’s creative talents.
Bev Tanner, the venue’s interim manager, is delighted that the classes, workshops and sessions are proving so popular.
“We have worked really hard to put together a timetable of really diverse courses and sessions, with some of the best craftspeople and wellbeing coaches from Stroud,” she said.
“It’s great to see that they have been received so well by the town, over 150 people have signed up for classes this year.”
But the great success of the classes has inadvertently put the centrally located building in a difficult position.
Bev explained; “With a quarter of our classes already sold out, and the rest of our programme experiencing very high levels of interest, we’re need more tutors to meet the amazing demand - what a brilliant position to be in.”
You can view all of the classes and workshops that the Subscription Rooms has to offer by picking up a copy of their brochure or by visiting www.subscriptionrooms.org.uk
Examples of unique workshops organised at the venue include yoga, Pilates, jive class, working with stained glass, calligraphy, physical theatre and portrait painting.
There are a total of 30 different classes available. Other classes include photography, building willow structures for the garden, writing a novel and a class on painting snow scenes in watercolour.

A further Willow Piglet Workshop has been added to the Subscription Room’s programme after the original class sold out
