STROUD dentists walked 15km from Lavender Bakehouse to the Old Badger Inn for charity.

Helen long, a receptionist at the Nelson Street base for mydentist will be trekking with her team from Chalford to Eastington for Cancer Research UK (CRUK) as part of their regular fundraising efforts.

The company has been pursuing fundraising efforts since June 2016 and has already raised over £60,000 between its 700 practices, this effort alone has raised £873 and counting.

Helen said: “We’re all unfit so this is quite a mammoth task for us, but it’s something we can all do for charity and it’s just the start of our fundraising efforts.

“I’d like to thank all the families and patients who have already donated.”

Mydentist have been a sponsor of CRUK since April last year.

Practice manager Emma Jellyman, said: “The partnership with Cancer Research is very important to us as there is a close link.

“Mouth cancer is on the rise in the UK and can be spotted by a dentist through a simple check-up, so by spreading awareness and fundraising we’re also encouraging the nation to book regular check-ups to look after their oral health.

“In practice we also raise money for CRUK by donating patient’s old crowns and bridges to Star Refining to be melted and sold.”
