AN 85-YEAR-OLD man died of a suspected cardiac arrest while out with his family at a pub on Minchinhampton Common on Sunday.

An air ambulance crew and rapid response crew were called to the scene at The Old Lodge just before 1pm.

Paramedics attempted lifesaving medical care but the man was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.

Police said he had been out with his family when he suffered medical problems.

A spokesman for the South West Ambulance Service said "We were called at 12.53 to Minchinhampton Common to attend a possible cardiac arrest.

“We attended with a rapid response crew and the air ambulance."

Air ambulance crews had set the helicopter down on the Common.

The next of kin have been informed.

Nick Beardsley, who owns The Old Lodge, said: “An elderly client surrounded by family suffered health problems whilst attending Old Lodge.

“Emergency services were brilliant and attended very quickly with multiple ambulance, police and a helicopter.

“Our hearts go out to the family."
