SURPLUS Forest Green players are heading for a New Lawn exit.

Boss Mark Cooper is planning a squad tweak as the title-chasers eye the second-half of the season.

With striker Kieffer Moore making a shock move to Championship outfit Ipswich Town and left-winger Elliott Frear set to seal a switch to Scottish Premiership Motherwell, Cooper wasted no time in completing a season-long loan for Bristol Rovers winger Jake Gosling on Monday ahead of their National League home clash against improving Braintree Town on Saturday.

Cooper said: “Jake Gosling is a very exciting wide player, who can beat a man, score and create goals. He gives us that little bit more quality in the wider areas.”

And Cooper is more than happy with his forward options.

He added: “Once the players who we see as surplus leave in January, or the ones who want to move on, we will have a real 18-19 man squad that is nice and tight.

"We have got Christian Doidge, Shamir Mullings who will come good - and add Fabien Robert, Keanu Marsh-Brown, Marcus Kelly and Jake Gosling, so we have got healthy competition in the forward area.”
