A COURAGEOUS mother-of-two from Stroud who is fighting ovarian cancer will take to the catwalk to raise awareness of the disease.

Viv Hancock, 53, from Cashes Green, will be joining forces with other women currently undergoing treatment to strut her stuff and raise funds for the charity Ovacome.

The special catwalk fundraising show will be beheld at the Mayfair Hotel in London on Saturday March 11.

The wife and mother of teenage boys was diagnosed with ovarian cancer in December 2014 and is currently undergoing her third round of chemotherapy.

By the time the fashion show comes around the treatment means she will have lost all her hair.

She says she wants to raise as much awareness as possible about the disease, and the charity fighting to find a cure and support those affected by it.

“Ovarian cancer is often misdiagnosed and not picked up until it's at a late stage,” she said. “It's very difficult to treat as it almost always comes back. “There is a huge lack of awareness of the symptoms and that needs to change.

“That's why I'm going way out of my comfort zone to be a catwalk model at the Tea with Ovacome event.”

All the models taking part in the show are women who have been diagnosed with the devastating disease.

Viv is married to Pete and has two teenage boys; Dan, 17 and Billy 14, who will be there to support her on the big day.

Overcome provide expert guidance, personalised clinical and research information, emotional support and resources for women diagnosed with ovarian cancer or worried they might be at risk.
