A SERIAL 36-year-old shoplifter from Stroud has been jailed after she admitted a string of offences.

Claire Beavis of Mathews Way admitted a number of offences when she appeared before Cheltenham Magistrates Court.

She was jailed for 16 weeks when magistrates heard that she had committed thefts while subject to a community order for shoplifting and had entered stores with a foil-lined carrier bag.

Beavis stole electric tooth brush heads and razor blades from Superdrug in Stroud on January 12 and entered the store with a foil-lined carrier bag.

She stole razors and alcohol from Sainsbury’s in Dudbridge on January 8.

Then on Boxing Day she stole a £13 bottle of whisky from Iceland in Cornhill Shopping Centre, Stroud.

She also stole two CDs and four DVDs from Argos in Merrywalks Shopping Centre on November 20 last year, and three Rimmel Concealers from Boots in Stroud on January 19.

On January 2 she stole six DVDs from The Original Factory Shop in Stroud.

Beavis also pleaded guilty to committing that offence while under a community order for shoplifting.
