  • Worried about bank closures in Stonehouse? Then turn to the Post Office, now located in the Co-op. You can still do your day to day banking with the PO – you can make cash withdrawals with your bank card, make balance enquiries, make cash deposits and using a paying in slip make cheque deposits.
  • Stonehouse History Group meet this evening Wednesday February 8 at 7.30pm at the Town Hall. Local author Howard Beard joins us to give a presentation showing: ‘Victorian Stroud and the surrounding area in old photographs’. We always welcome non-members so do come along and join us if this is a topic of interest.
  • Cotswold AONB Warden Led Walks. If you fancy a walk tomorrow Thursday February 9 join the group and walk from the Frocester George Inn, Silber Street for a visit around Frocester Court Farm.   • Keen Photographers wanted. Could you contribute to a new community project - Stonehouse in Pictures? Join in a project to create a photographic record of all aspects of life in Stonehouse throughout 2017.   • Home-Start are looking for volunteers to support families in and around the Stroud District. It has a fully equipped Gym Sports and Dance Centre and an excellent range of facilities. So why not use what is on the door step to get in shape?   • Parkrun Stonehouse now has its own Parkrun which takes place every Saturday at 9am on the football field, Oldend Lane. It is very well organised and it is there for everyone – there is no charge, just turn up and run or walk possibly with a dog. Great community event. Parkrun is also looking for volunteers so if you would like to join in by helping either just go along on a Saturday or contact John on 07964 556240.
  • Stonehouse Wheeler is the cycling club which always goes out – whatever the weather. For December to February the Wednesday run will start at 1.15pm outside the Globe Inn, Stonehouse. The Wednesday ride is an ‘easy’ bike ride of up to just 18 miles – so all cyclists welcome. But please – lights and mudguards are essential in these winter times.   • Mindfulness Yoga Classes resume at 7pm at the Park Infant School.
  • Sports facilities on the Laburnum Field. Have you seen the Outdoor Table Tennis tables by the Community Centre? Alongside the Outdoor Gym equipment and Boules area are two tables. Who needs to go to a gym when you can use these facilities for free? And no dress code. Just turn up and keep fit.
  • Stonehouse now has a Boules court on the Laburnum Recreation Ground. If you would like to hire the court, please contact the Town Council for details on how to hire it and get the key. Call 01453 822070.
  • Short Mat Bowling Club at the Douglas Morley Hall is open to all interested bowls players. They meet every Tuesday and Friday afternoons between 2pm and 4.30pm. Potential new members of all ages are very welcome to come along and give it a go free of charge for the first two sessions. Equipment will be provided but flat soled shoes must be worn.
