FAT Toni’s Pizzeria has been granted planning permission to open a restaurant in the heart of Stroud town centre.

The popular pizza business was given the green light from Stroud District Council to transform the vacant former Millets shop on the corner of Stroud High Street and Kendrick Street on February 2.

With planning secured, owners Darren and Jason Orsi and their dad Remo can now open their second full-fledged eatery and further expand their growing business.

They have agreed terms with the owner of the High Street building to rent the ground and basement floor for their restaurant.

The two brothers, who currently run the takeaway from their hub in Gloucester Street, have been working with Vision Mill Architects to produce plans for their new venture.

Blueprints show a mixture of different sized tables spread throughout the store, as well as window seats, a bar area and kitchen.

The plans also include space for the popular businesses’ iconic electric pizza oven and plans for another kitchen, dough room, office and toilets at the basement level.

The famous red and green logo ‘Fat Toni’s Pizzeria’ would also be reconstructed on the renovated shop front.

It is not yet clear when work will start to progress with interior renovations.

The key High Street building has lain empty for three years and has been used for a number of pop-up art installations and exhibitions.

The new business will employ six full time staff and four part time staff.

Opening hours would be from 10am till 10pm, seven days a week.
