A 35-YEAR-OLD van driver was stopped by police in Dudbridge and found to be twice above the legal alcohol limit, a court heard.

Edward Maxwell of Frederick Thomas Road, Cam West, Dursley pleaded guilty to drink-driving when he appeared before Cheltenham Magistrates on Wednesday, February 8.

He was stopped by police on Tuesday, January 24 on the A46 at Dudbridge Hill, Stroud, the court was told.

Maxwell had 86 micrograms of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath, the legal limit being 35 micrograms.

He was banned from driving for 21 months, fined £140 and ordered to pay prosecution costs of £85.
