A CELEBRANT from Stroud as won a top regional wedding award.

Christina Snell was given the ‘Best Celebrant Award’ for Gloucestershire in the Three Counties Wedding Awards 2017.

She won for her success in creating and delivering unique, personal and heartfelt ceremonies for weddings, funerals, baby namings and other family and community events.

Ceremonies led by civil celebrants are driven by the wishes, beliefs and values of the individuals, families and communities involved, not by the beliefs or ideology of the person conducting the funeral.

It can include religious or other spiritual content or be entirely without.

Christina, who became an independent celebrant in 2015 following a career in the probation service and 10 years as chief executive at Age UK Gloucestershire, said: “I am privileged to have a job that enables me to share life’s special and important moments with individuals and families.

“Every couple I work with is special and unique and it is a joy to be able to work with them to create and deliver a beautiful and memorable ceremony to mark the occasion.

“Thank you to all the couples who nominated and voted for me.”

She has noticed that a growing number of couples are choosing civil celebrants because they allow for a more personalised experience wherever they wish (including outdoors).
