AN open mic night at a coffee shop is being held in memory of a “truly amazing” friend and son who died in Stonehouse.
Starbucks in Cirencester is inviting musicians to bring along their instruments or just their voice, to be part of the fundraiser taking place tomorrow, February 23, from 6pm.
It will raise money for Cotswold Counselling and is in memory of Ryan Rogers, 23, a talented writer and volunteer at Cirencester Hospital, who died last month after being hit by a train near Oldends Lane level crossing.
He graduated with a distinction in computing and systems development from Cirencester College and had an ebook, Icarus, Episode One, and several short stories published.
Parents Claire and Andrew Rogers said: “He could achieve anything he put his mind to – learning and putting in whatever time, practice, knowledge and research required.”
All are invited to attend the event.
Ryan died after being hit by a train near Oldends Lane level crossing in Stonehouse. British Transport Police said the incident is not being treated as suspicious.
