FULL military honours will be given at the funeral of Stroud soldier Jack Mitchell, 24.

The Army Gunner will be remembered at a special memorial service at Painswick RFC at 12 noon on Friday, March 10.

He had been a keen supporter of the club, of which his loving father Julian is chairman.

Jack will then be laid to rest at Stroud Cemetery in Horns Road, with the full military burial rite.

A celebration of his life will follow back at the rugby club. His many friends are welcome to join the family to pay tribute.

Jack died after an alleged assault inside the Warehouse nightclub in Stroud in the early hours of Sunday, February 5.

An inquest opened on February 20 and has been scheduled for Thursday, July 6.

Jack, who attended Cashes Green primary and Archway School, joined the army in 2014 and was a gunner in the 32 Regiment Royal Artillery stationed at Larkhill Army Camp in Salisbury.

He had recently been on a tour in Kenya and had been staying at home while on leave.

A military funeral in the UK may feature guards of honor, the firing of volley shots as a salute, drumming and other military elements, with a flag draping over the coffin.
