STROUD TOWN COUNCIL is holding a public meeting to give people a say about the future of the Sub Rooms.

The meeting is open to all members of the public and will be held at the Sub Rooms on Thursday, March 9 at 7.30pm.

It is an opportunity to debate the future ownership of the council run venue, with three potential outcomes.

These are: Retain the property and service, dispose of the freehold or offer leasehold interest to a community interest group and dispose of the freehold and place it on the open market.

Town Mayor Kevin Cranston said: “The Sub Rooms are an important community resource and the Town Council is acting as a voice for the community.”

“In order for us to do that we want to consult as widely as possible about the future of the Sub Rooms, to hear ideas about how it could be made even more popular, changes to facilities or the building layout that would improve visitor experience.

“This meeting is an opportunity for you to have a say about what should happen to the Sub Rooms and how you can contribute.”

Earlier this year Stroud District Council revealed the Sub Rooms future was under review following cuts in government funding and deciding the £415,000 per year loss was no longer viable.
