Pupils at Beaudesert Park School in Minchinhampton marked Children’s Mental Health Week with a range of activities and excitement.
The week began with a special kindness themed assembly where the children filled and emptied buckets to symbolise acts of generosity or selfishness.
There were also happiness themed PSHCE lessons, pilates sessions and motivational posters placed at strategic points across the school site.
Children were encouraged to play with a huge selection of hats, accessories and other props, posing for pictures in a special photo booth.
This was designed to encourage kids to play simply for the joy of playing and have fun in each other’s company.
Laurie Robinson, assistant head, said: “The activities across the week worked really well in terms of prompting discussions with the pupils and simply raising awareness of what mental health is and what affects it, so we were pleased and proud to have been involved this year.”
As Patron of Place2Be – a national charity which provides emotional support to school children and which developed the week-long initiative, Her Royal Highness the Duchess of Cambridge is a big supporter of the programme.
