A CAR was written off after a crash involving a Hyundai and a Land Rover near Aston Down Airfield this morning.

The collision took place during commuter traffic at around 7.45am on the A419 eastbound.

It happened at the cross section near Jolly Nice at The Old White horse Filling Station, near the turnoffs to Frampton Mansell and Rodmarton.

An ambulance was called to the scene and paramedics treated the female driver of the Hyundai.

Police said her injuries were not serious but she was taken to hospital as a precaution.

After the crash her vehicle was left in the middle of the road with serious damage – but it has since been recovered.

It is unclear how the other vehicle, a Land Rover, was involved in the crash. The male driver was not injured.

An eye witness from Jolly Nice said: “The car was an absolute write off. Luckily the driver didn’t seem injured at all.

“They were up and about and waiting on the side of the road when the ambulance arrived. I think they were treated for shock more than anything.

“There were long queues back to the roundabout but the road was cleared by the time I got into work at 8am.”

A police spokeswomen said: “Two cars were involved in a collision on A419 at Frampton Mansell. The female driver of a Hyundai treated at scene by paramedics and taken to hospital as a precaution.”

Queues stretched back to the roundabout near the turnoff to Chalford.

Traffic was also moving very slowly on the main road going past Frampton Mansell and the airfield towards Cirencester.

The A419 is now clear and traffic is flowing freely.
