A YOUNG woman from Stroud will shave her head to raise money for the Little Princess Trust (LPT).

The charity provides real wigs to sick young children suffering from cancer, it also supports the development of less toxic and aggressive cancer treatments.

Fenella Whitely, 19, has donated her hair to LPT in the past but this time she has decided to go all out.

She said: “I've donated my hair to LPT a few times before but this time I want to do the whole shebang and raise money for them too.

“I set myself a £300 goal for fundraising and I have already reached it, my friends and family have been very supportive.

“I’m genuinely not that nervous and I’m actually excited about how my hair is going to look.

“I can’t wait to get started.”

LPT help to fund eight research projects. These include studies into brain tumours, non-Hodgkin lymphoma, neuroblastoma and acute lymphoblastic leukaemia.

“I strongly support all the work they do,” said Fenella, I cannot even begin to understand how traumatic it must be for a child to go through the experience of losing their hair and I'm lucky that I haven't had to go through it.

“A charity that makes sick children's lives brighter is inspirational and it's an honour to be involved with a charity that helps so many kids and their families.”
