People over the age of 50 will be getting involved in an Active For Life day at Stratford Park Leisure Centre on Friday, March 31.
The event organised by Stroud District Council will provide free taster sessions of walking sports such as rugby, football and netball, whilst offering alternative options such as dancing and pilates.
Emma Keating-Clarke, Health and Wellbeing Development Co-ordinator at SDC said: “There are lots of really active people over 50 in our District but there are also lots of people who used to enjoy sports or fitness classes but have given up for health reasons. Our event offers the chance to try gentler exercise.
"Retirement can be a lonely time after the structure of working life and it can be hard to meet new people. Not everyone wants to join a knitting circle."
Tesco will provide fresh fruit for the day in an attempt to promote a healthy lifestyle, whilst a member from the Newsquest team will be handing out water to weary participants.
The event is free to everyone and promises to be a great deal of fun with free tea and coffee provided for all who turn up.
Many of the popular taster sessions will fill up quickly, so to guarantee a place fill out the booking form on the leaflet and send it to - Active For Life, Sport & Health Development, Stroud District Council, Ebley Mill, Ebley Warf, Stroud, Gloucestershire, GL54UB.
