STROUD District Council leader Steve Lydon keeps you up to date with council matters

Friday, March 31 – Active For Life health & wellbeing day

AS part of our commitment to health and wellbeing, we have arranged a morning of activities for residents aged 50 and over.

There will be free taster sessions for exercise classes specially designed for older people, gentle walking and running groups in Stratford Park grounds plus ‘walking’ sports like football, netball and rugby.

The hair & beauty students from SGS College provide a pop up pamper session, and you can have a free swim on the day too.

Active For Life will take place at Stratford Park on March 31, between 10am and 1.30pm. As the numbers are limited you’ll need to register to take part, either on the council’s website stroud.gov.uk/activeforlife or by phoning 01453 754177. If you’re on social media you can follow the event on Facebook activeforlifestroud and Twitter @activestroud.

Thursday, May 4 – Gloucestershire County Council elections

The county council elections will take place on Thursday, May 4. You’ll be able to see who is standing for election from Tuesday, April 4 at gloucestershire.gov.uk

During the run-up to the elections, councils and councillors have to observe strict publicity guidelines, so I will have to put this diary on hold until then.

Forthcoming council meetings

Although I won’t be writing my diary for the next six weeks it will be business as usual at SDC. Three committees and one council meeting will take place over this period.

Housing Enforcers – final week

This is the final week of the latest series of the daytime BBC One series The Housing Enforcers which features our council staff and tenants. It’s been a real insight into the work of our housing team and is well worth a watch. If you missed it you’ll be able to watch the whole series on BBC iPlayer from Friday.
