A MAN is due to stand trial in August after he pleaded not guilty on Friday to taking part in a burglary of a house in a quiet rural area at Cranham.

Leon Pettigrew, 36, of Matson Avenue in Gloucester, denied breaking into the property on February 2 this year and stealing electrical items, alcohol and jewellery.

Gloucester Crown Court was told he is allegedly one of three burglars who raided the house.

Pettigrew also pleaded not guilty to having two bladed articles in a public place, Matson Avenue, on February 21 this year.

One was said to be a black handled kitchen knife and the other a yellow and black handled toasting fork.

Prosecutor Janine Wood said the burgled house, which had suffered an 'untidy search', had its own CCTV which had filmed three people walking in the area - one of them allegedly Pettigrew.

Tim Burrows, defending, told the court "He denies he was involved."

Pettigrew was remanded in custody pending a two day trial starting on August 2.
