NAILSWORTH has been left without a single remaining bank after the closure of Lloyds.
The branch on Fountain Street in Nailsworth shut its doors for the last time on Wednesday afternoon.
Its cash point has also been taped off and will be decommissioned soon.
Meanwhile, the Lloyds bank on Stonehouse High Street will close today , March 30, meaning it too will be left without a bank.
Lloyds’ decision to axe both branches comes despite come opposition from residents, businesses and councillors in the two communities.
It will mean the closest Lloyds Bank for both towns will be located in Rowcroft, Stroud.
A spokesman for Lloyds apologised for any inconvenience to customers, but said it was adapting to changing banking methods.
"These branches have been identified for closure because of the changing way customers choose to bank with us, which has resulted in customers using them less often,” he said.
"The majority of customers also now regularly use alternative branches or use other ways to bank such as online and telephone banking to complete their banking needs.
"We apologise for any inconvenience that this may cause and have informed customers of the closest alternative branches."
