A WOMAN from Minchinhampton who has been missing for four days and nights has been found safe and well this morning after a huge police search.

A member of the public walking their dog in Toadsmoor Woods near Eastcombe found Hazel Denham, 71, and her dog Bertie at around 9.20am.

Police said Hazel was "weak but in good spirits" and that her family had been informed.

She is now being treated by the ambulance service at the scene. Paramedics have not yet moved her from the woods.

SNJ reporter Sam Evans, who is at the scene now, said one police car and one ambulances are in attendance.

Bertie, a poodle and Yorkshire terrier cross, is also being treated.

Toadsmoor Woods is a small area of woodland to the north west of Eastcombe, around 3.7 miles walking distance from Minchinhampton.

Hazel was last seen in the Tynings area at about 1pm on Tuesday, April 4 and has missing ever since. No further details were released by police.

It follows a massive three day search which involved police officers, police helicopter, fire crews using thermal imaging cameras, the Search and Rescue Dogs Association and the National Police Air Service (NPAS).

Hundreds of people from the community volunteered their time to help police and the appeal was shared thousands of times on social media to wider the search from Minchinhampton Common and the Golden Valley.

Hazel and Richard's son James and his wife Lisa had been assisting on Minchampton Common and distributing posters.

Last night residents groups in the area organised group searches to assist officers.

Police have been to the family house to pick up a dog bowl and a bed for Bertie.
