THE UK’s leading retirement housebuilder, McCarthy and Stone, has given Community Connexions in Stroud a welcome boost with a £500 donation towards the charity’s fundraising target.

Providing community transport across the county of Gloucestershire for groups and individuals, Community Connexions helps less mobile people retain their independence and freedom.

The charity’s CEO, Paul Riddick visited McCarthy and Stone’s Stroud development, Stroudwater Court, to be presented with a cheque by McCarthy and Stone’s Regional Managing Director for the South West, Simon Mantell. The funds will help towards Community Connexions’ fundraising efforts for a new wheelchair accessible car, which help the charity to continue its vital services.

Paul Riddick, CEO of Community Connexions, said: “Community Connexions are constantly recruiting for more volunteer drivers as we rely on them to help run our invaluable community service, and we endeavour to ensure the most vulnerable members of society have access to safe and professional transport. We are very grateful to McCarthy and Stone for this gesture of support. As a charity with over 30 years’ experience, donations such as these help us to continue our services across the whole of Gloucestershire.”

Simon Mantell, Regional Managing Director at McCarthy and Stone South West, added: “As a company we appreciate that our responsibilities go further than building quality retirement properties, and we also seek to create a positive legacy in the communities in which we build.

“When we were looking for a charity in Stroud to support, Community Connexions stood out for the positive role it plays in the lives of many across the region. It is an absolute pleasure to present this donation to the charity and we wish them every success with their ongoing fundraising efforts.”
