A SIX-YEAR-OLD boy from Forest Green is doing a sponsored walk after seeing an emotional advert on television.

Toby James became very upset when watching an advert, featuring poverty stricken areas and starving children.

In order to help those less fortunate than himself Toby will raise money for the Disasters Emergency Committee by walking from Dudbridge to Nailsworth.

Toby’s mother Sophie Kane is very proud of him for wanting to help.

She said: “Toby saw an advert on television and wanted to help the sick babies.

“I’m not sure he really understood what was going on but he was very moved and wanted to send his lego to help.”

Instead of sending his lego Sophie suggested that Toby should do a sponsored walk.

“He’s a very active boy anyway,” said Sophie. “He likes to walk all over the place and we decided this was a good healthy way to raise money.”

Sophie will accompany Toby on his walk, as will his 10-year-old sister Hollie.

The walk will take place at 1pm on Saturday, April 22 and Toby has already manged to raise £242, almost five times more than he originally planned.
