IN addition to its proposal for Eco Park at junction 13 of the M5, Ecotricity has plans for redevelopment at two other locations in the district.

New housing at the New Lawn If Eco Park gets the go-ahead, Forest Green Rovers will move from its home of the last 10 years to the new 50 acre sport complex with the radical Zaha Hadid stadium at its heart.

Today, Ecotricity revealed the full plans for the club’s current ground, The New Lawn in Nailsworth – to create almost 100 homes.

Dale Vince, Ecotricity founder and FGR chairman, said: “If Eco Park goes ahead, we think this would be the best use of New Lawn.

"We’re at an early stage but we would look to build low carbon and low cost homes using the latest construction techniques – a range of buildings from one bed flats to detached houses.

"There are some interesting developments in Europe which strike the balance between technology, sustainability, aesthetics and affordability.

“We’ll be looking at best practices in the eco home space and hopefully bring that to Nailsworth.”

A new look at New Axiom The old tax office in Merrywalks has been an eyesore for a number of years now.

A few weeks ago, exclusively to the SNJ, Ecotricity unveiled an exciting design for an entirely new building.

Dale said: “We looked at options to make the best of the existing building, and a few months ago got planning permission for ‘the Lego look’.

"But we started to think we could do better – so we asked Glen Howells Architects, the runners up in our FGR stadium competition, and designers of the award winning Gloucester Services, to take a look at other options.

“This new building would give us the space to create another 300 jobs in the town. It’s part of our wider thinking about this edge or entrance to Stroud – and we’re talking to the district and county councils about projects that include creating a public space in Wallbridge area, by the canal, and some better pedestrian and bike access into town.”
