  • Stonehouse WI Wednesday April 19 at 7.30 Stonehouse Community Centre. Our friends from Hardwicke join us to hear Jan Turner talk about the Arts and Craft Movement in Gloucestershire. We will be celebrating our 49th birthday this month – cake and tea a distinct possibility. The Bring and Buy will be a jigsaw puzzle sale. Visitors are always welcome so if you are interested in finding out more about your local WI come and join us for the evening.
  • Table Top Sales in the Town Hall organised by Stonehouse in Bloom. This and every Saturday from 10am. Plants, books, preserves, bric-a-brac, cards, toiletries and more.   • Savvy Seniors –Vue Cinema. Thursday April 20 at 1pm. ‘Fences’ Starring Denzel Washington. A working-class African American father tries to raise his family in the 1950’s whice coming to terms with the events of his life. £3.99 buys a seat in the cinema, and a cuppa and biscuit.   • King's Stanley Brownies has vacancies. We meet every Tuesday in the Village Hall from 6-7.30pm. If you are between 7-10 yrs old why not come along and find out what being a Brownie is all about make some new friends and learn some useful skills.
  • Cotswold AONB Warden Led Walks. Wednesday April 19 why not join the walk from Horsley village shop to Chavenage Green. 4 hours – 6 miles. All walks start at 10am and return to the starting point.   • Stonehouse British Legion Women’s Sections. We meet on the last Thursday of every month at 1.45 in the Stonehouse Community Centre and the next meeting, Thursday March 30, Tony Osman will be demonstrating the art of glass blowing.   • Maidenhill Joint Use Centre is one of Stonehouse’s best kept secrets. It has a fully equipped Gym Sports and Dance Centre and an excellent range of facilities.   • Did you know that Stonehouse now has a series of local walks which highlight different aspects of the town. Copies are available from the town hall and the information can also be found on the Stonehouse History Group website: www.stonehousehistorygroup.org.uk.
  • Libraries are not just about books. Have you ever visited our library in Stonehouse? Apart from books they have PCs with internet access, DVDs and CDs. There are also sessions for young children. They also have new opening hours, Monday, Wednesday and Saturdays 10am to 1pm, Thursday, 2pm to 5pm, Tuesday and Friday they are closed but there is a virtual library open 24/7 so you could visit www.gloucestershire.gov.uk/libraries. Why not go along to your local library and see just what they have to offer. The local library also has a range of Mood Busting books - a range of self-help books featured in Reading Well Books on Prescription.
