ALDI has responded with disappointment to the decision by Stroud District Council to delay the plans for the new store at the Bath Road Trading Estate.
"We are hugely disappointed and frustrated that for the fourth time councillors on Stroud’s development control committee failed to support proposals for significant investment in the area.
"It is a real shame that the councillors did not show conviction in encouraging much needed and wanted investment in Stroud.
"Their failure to make a decision has only led to further delays to proposals that have the overwhelming support of local people and neighbouring businesses, who are keen to see ALDI open and improvements made to the trading estate.
"ALDI is encouraged by the significant support local people have demonstrated for the scheme and see no reason why the application cannot be determined at the next committee meeting on June 6".
