LAST night Love/Me/Do, a film by Minchinhampton resident Martin Stitt, made it's television premiere on Sky Cinema.

Described as a modern day Bonnie and Clyde, Love/Me/Do follows an investment banker, Antonia, and out of work actor, Max, who fall in love and end up committing a terrible crime.

Set in one house in Pimlico, London, the film is intensely focused on the relationship of the two main characters who Martin describes as 'evil' but with qualities which are 'admirable.'

Influenced by his experience in both the corporate and arts worlds, film director Martin Stitt wrote a script which drew on some 'pretty nasty characters.'

A biology graduate, ex-serviceman in the military, international worker for HSBC and now film director and writer, he has worked with people from all walks of life.

Martin, who was brought up by his mum after his dad died when he was young, said he wanted to write a female-driven film.

"Too many conventional films are male-driven," said Martin, who lives in Minchinhampton.

"I have been surrounded by strong women so one of the first things I decided was that the film would be female-driven.

"Antonia is both the heroine and the villain."

The film draws on the rise of the corporate sociopath who is willing to do anything to advance their company and career.

It is a cautionary tale with an open ending for the audience to draw their own conclusions.

"I wanted to create characters that the audience can love and hate," said Martin, a dad of two who grew up in Cheltenham.

"In real life I have come across some pretty nasty characters in hindsight who have these traits.

"They are really nice people to be with when you are of use to them but when you are no longer of use and you've been spurned you see how cruel and heartless they can be.

"I have drawn from the worlds I know about having worked in both finance and arts and partly from real people.

"The joy of film making is taking a real situation and exploring the what ifs.

"For me they end up committing what is one of the worst crimes you could imagine."

After being premiered at the Raindance Film Festival in 2015, Love/Me/Do has been shown at film festivals across the world.

Lead actors Rebecca Calder and Jack Gordon have won awards for their roles and received high praise.

"I have been delighted by the response," said Martin.

"It is always a bit nerve-racking to see how it is going to go down but it has been great.

"Rebecca and Jack are fantastic. The film is an intimate character study and they hold the screen for the duration of the movie so it is a big ask.

"I hope that the film keeps the audience guessing as they watch."

"All the best to friends and colleagues and a big thanks for the support for Love/Me/Do."

The film is still available on Sky Store and is being broadcast again on Sky Cinema Premiere, it is also available on iTunes, Amazon and Google, priced at £7.99 and for rent, the certificate is 15 by the BBFC.
