STROUD Lido in Stratford Park has been awarded over £12,000 from Stroud Town Council and the National Lottery.
It has been announced that the bid for a Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF) grant of £10,000, and a Stroud Town Council grant of £2,248, has been successful.
The money will pay for a feasibility study to assess options for transforming and sustaining Stroud’s iconic outdoor swimming pool.
The project will be managed by a group of local volunteers working with Stroud District Council, Stroud Town Council, SLM Leisure, the Stroud Preservation Trust and other stakeholders.
The feasibility study will involve a high-level options appraisal and community consultation to be conducted from April to October 2017.
All options for the future protection of the pool will be explored including use of the buildings, income generation etc.
Local residents will be encouraged to get involved and be invited to give their views on how the Lido could be used and protected in the future.
Stroud District Council’s volunteer project manager Jess McQuail said: “This is fantastic news for Stroud.
"The Heritage Lottery Fund and Stroud Town Council grants will help us explore options for how this much loved, beautiful Lido could be re-developed and protected for future generations”.
Further information will be publicised in May or June about how community members can get involved.
