A NEW chapter has opened at Stroud Valley Community School after a £7000 investment in books.

Children were asked for their favourite novels and authors to make sure the money was well spent on popular stories.

Each classroom has around 70 or 80 news books for that year group to enjoy and the children have been itching to get their hands on them.

“The children have been dying to start reading the books and the joy on their faces when they finally opened the boxes were something special,” said headteacher Debbie Sleep.

“We wanted to make sure the children got something they would enjoy, so we let them choose the books themselves.

The investment has been made by the school as part of a new scheme that encourages children to read more.
