RECORD Store Day saw huge numbers of people descend upon Stroud’s Trading Post on Saturday.

Hundreds of new vinyls were released exclusively to independent stores for the annual international celebration of records, and Simon Vincent, owner of the Trading Post in Kendrick Street, said he had a big crowd of customers on Saturday.

Simon said: “If anything there were more people queuing than last year and that’s saying something.

“It’s a bit of an unusual sight because we are normally quite quiet but on this one day we get everyone through the door.

“I had some serious collectors coming along and they spent huge sums of money.

“This year, records by David Bowie, The Smiths, Madonna and the Blade Runner soundtrack were extremely popular.”

Trading commenced at 8am and there were a wide range of musical acts to keep the crowds entertained plus a free gig at the Prince Albert in the evening.

Keith Allen and Patrick Baladi both performed a DJ set and Chinese Burn headlined in the evening.
