Waitrose Stroud is to offer customers sushi which has been freshly made in store from Tuesday.

The new sushi counter will be launched in co-operation with Sushi Daily, the European market leader in sushi bars and counters.

It is designed to ensure that Waitrose Stroud reflects the needs of today's customers, many of whom will increasingly want delicious yet convenient food to eat on the go, or a quick and healthy option for an evening meal.

The Sushi Daily counter will be headed by a team of skilled sushi artisans, who will be preparing fresh products in front of customers throughout the day.

The product offer will consist of a wide range of hand-made and sustainably sourced sushi and maki, for Waitrose customers to purchase and eat in or take away.

For those looking to place larger orders, catering for meetings and parties there will a wide range of platters available to order through a dedicated phone line.

Waitrose branch manager Fiona Orwin said: “The addition of the sushi counter underlines our determination to make sure we continue to improve and innovate. “Our customers' lifestyles are changing with the growth of eating on the move - and the investment we have made has been designed to respond to that shift.

“Customers are increasingly attracted by products that can deliver for them on quality, convenience and health and sushi does this brilliantly.”
