THREE adventurous teenagers will attempt a half-marathon litter pick on June 10 and June 11 to raise money for their trip to Switzerland.

Jack Hale, 14, Laurie Inder, 15 and Andy Johnson, 15 hope to be travelling to the International Scouts Centre in Kandersteg during August.

The trip will bring Explorer Scouts together from all over the world and test them in a number of challenging activities including mountain hikes.

Jack’s mum Ali Watkins said: “The boys are really looking forward to the trip.

“They are all very active having participated in the Duke of Edinburgh Bronze award and this will be another challenge for them.”

However, to have this exciting opportunity they must raise a substantial amount of the £700 required for the 10 day trip, plus any costs for walking equipment.

As members of the Badbrook Explorers based in Stroud Valley Scout Centre Jack, Laurie and Andy will walk 13.1 miles from Slad to Sapperton and then back to Stroud all the time picking up litter.

The boys will be accompanied by Ali and two other parents to make sure they achieve their goal.

The Bowbridge Arms and the Stirrup Cup have already helped support the boys by putting a collection tin on their bars.

Harry at the Bowbridge Arms has kindly donated £25 of his own money.

The boys will be running a stall at the Farmers Market on Saturday between 9am and 2pm.

They will be explaining their plans for the litter pick, showing people their route and raising money through the sale of cakes and seedlings.

Jack, Laurie and Andy would like to thank anyone who has contributed so far and would be extremely grateful for any kind of donation.
