A BEAUTIFUL stone carving has been stolen from The Glade in the centre of Stroud.

The Glade was previously a derelict wasteland off Nelson Street but has now been transformed into a place of beauty and is special to many.

Anne Creed was responsible for the transformation which was inspired by the poet and war hero Ivor Gurney.

James Pentney who spends a lot of time at the Glade was creator of the stolen stone and his hoping the thievery was worth their while.

He said: ā€œIā€™d like to know where it has gone and I hope it brings at much joy to them as it would had they left it where it was.ā€
