ON Forest Green Rovers’ historic play-off victory at Wembley and promotion to the Football League.

Posted by GJP: To the people who live in the Five Valleys, and particularly Nailsworth, who do not usually have an interest in football. THIS IS A MASSIVE ACHIEVEMENT, greater than if Gloucester Rugby won the premiership. Look out for the FGR results next season. Or give it a go! Go up to a match. Have a quick sample of this wonderful little club doing great things alongside some of the big boys. And you will realise what you’ve been missing!

Posted by TheWrongUn: A MASSIVE ACHIEVEMENT come on, this was bought, if we’re going to try getting the community involved in local sport then why not encourage people to go watch some of the fantastic sport being played all around the Five Valleys each week. Sport where men and women put their bodies on the line play with a passion not driven by a wage packet or not getting fired. Having said all that well done to all the players.

Posted by Salendine: It is a great achievement and a proud moment. Perhaps a little less hyperbole is called for when comparing it to winning the rugby premiership. A way to go before FGR can make those sorts of comparisons. Let’s hope DV demonstrates some ethics by keeping it ‘on the hill’ where it belongs, and not moving it miles away.

Posted by Old Frampton: Without DV’s money this would not happen. Just look at the accounts over £2m deficit each season, he is already spending more than teams in Div 2. so not such a small team. Lets hope as said above DV keeps the club at its present location.

Posted by Dave Butcher: This day out will live long in the memory, a result thoroughly deserved.

Posted by iSpeak4U: Couldn’t disagree more. People give Dale Vince so much stick with snide comments like he’s “trying to claim a massive stake of Stroud”. Look at it another way, who else is investing in Stroud as much as Dale and Ecotricity? Who else is providing the same levels of employment growth? Who else would redevelop the large abandoned buildings which would be scattered around the town?

People are so quick to criticise but I struggle to think of any business which would be more suitable to Stroud than Ecotricity.

Let’s not force out the best source of investment the Stroud area has had in recent years eh?
