STROUD Road (B4070) in Birdlip is being resurfaced to fix potholes and Gloucestershire County Council are warning of travel delays.

The county council wants to inform drivers that a diversion route will be in place from Friday, June 9 until Tuesday, June 20 from 7.30am to 5.30pm daily (but not including weekends).

Road works will fix surface wear and tear along this popular route to remove potholes and create a smooth driving surface.

A signposted diversion route will be in place from Birdlip north and then west on the A417 to Brockworth, then south on the A46 to Stroud, back onto the A4070.

Cllr Vernon Smith, county council cabinet member for highways and flood said: “We know residents are keen for the surface to be improved along this route, so we’re investing to keep it in excellent condition and eliminate potholes.”

Cllr Nigel Robbins, Cirencester Beeches, said: “This is great news for Birdlip residents and I’m really pleased the work is starting.

“This stretch of road gets many locals from A to B on a daily basis, but we would still encourage people using the road to keep their speed down when passing through the village.”
