FOLLOWING the Prime Minister’s announcement today that the threat level has been reduced to severe, Gloucestershire police is reassuring the public that they will continue to see a visible police presence over the weekend.

DCC Jon Stratford says the public shouldn’t worry: "Nationally and locally, Operation Temperer will be stood down over the coming days.

"However, we are acutely aware that some people will still be concerned after what has happened.

"As such, there will still be a visible police presence in Cheltenham and Gloucester over the Bank Holiday weekend, some armed, some unarmed."

Whilst the threat level has been reduced, Gloucestershire police is still asking the public to remain vigilant.

Deputy Chief Constable Jon Stratford says information from the public can be vital.

"You are our eyes and eyes and ears.

"If you are concerned, please dial 999 immediately or if you think you have information which can help in keeping people safe, you can call the anti-terror hotline 0800 789321."
