AN APPLICATION to create a new car parking space and dropped kerb at the front of a Rogerstone house has been been thrown out for a second time.

The planning application relating to number 30, Tredegar Park View, Newport, was refused in March over concerns around the impact on visibility.

Although the applicant re-submitted the plan with a relocated, larger parking space, Newport City Council’s planning department again threw out the application.

In its decision notice the council said its previous concerns remained and would only be re-assessed if a seven-day speed survey of the road was carried out.

A council report read “There is insufficient visibility and it does not appear that this can be overcome due to the curvature of the road.”

It also said: “While speeds in this area are likely to be low due to the narrowness of the road and curve, the pavements are heavily parked reducing visibility further.”
