GILLETTE Soccer Saturday presenter Jeff Stelling and former Southampton football legend Matt Le Tissier paid a visit to The Bell pub in Avening last Sunday.

Stelling is aiming to raise £500,000 for Prostate Cancer UK by walking 15 marathons in 15 days, with day three seeing him trudge from Swindon Town’s County Ground to The New Lawn, home of Forest Green Rovers.

Each day he is joined by another well-known face and it was Le Tissier who kept him company on his way through Avening.

Paul Sanders who helps with web and social media work for the Bell was present at the event.

“They were both very friendly,” said Paul. “They were happy to chat to anyone and have their pictures taken.

“The pair stayed for about an hour, had a coffee and a chat and then went on their way.

“I think they approached the managers Glyn and Andy before the walk because they saw it as a good place to stop.

“Quite a few people turned out and it was a really nice occasion.”

Stelling’s March4Men will see him travel from Exeter in Devon all the way to Newcastle in North-East England.

He has already managed to raise £238,447, but he is a long way off his overall goal.
