A GROUP of Stroud Rotarians recently joined forces for a morning of spectacle sorting, cleaning and packing.
This is part of the ongoing project to send discarded spectacle frames to Sri Lanka, where they will be given new lenses, and provided free to poor and elderly people who cannot afford them.
So far more than 30,000 pairs have been sent - the morning session by seven members added another 330 to the total.
The plan is to send 100,000, so there is a long way to go!
Stroud Rotary is grateful to Specsavers in Stroud, Randwick and Whiteshill churches, and the Frampton Medical Practice (Dr Buckley) and many other donors who have collected spectacles for them.
Unwanted spectacles in good condition can be dropped off at the Imperial Hotel in Stroud, or telephone 0787 904 0102.
