DONATIONS were collected on Saturday to help those affected by the Grenfell Tower fire in West London last week that killed 79 people.

Stroud residents have donated all sorts of everyday essentials, mainly tolietries and food.

On Saturday Charlotte Hummingbird and Sasha Reid collected items at B&Q car park in Dudbridge, Stroud.

Also the Queen Vic pub in Gloucester Street, Stroud, were collecting items and driving them to London.

Charlotte Hummingbird said: "Myself and Sasha would like to say a big Thank you so much to every single person who donated to our collection for the Grenfell Tower fire victims this morning.

"I can't get over the generosity and kindness of all of you.

"People have been so kind, generous and supportive of our efforts to help.

"We collected one van and two cars full of donations, which we drove over to Gloucester Quays donation point - where the items will be sorted through and distributed to where they're needed most.

"So lovely to see people coming together to support those in need! And thanks to our lovely helpers, Ava Doran and Ella too!

"Thank you Stroud, for your love and solidarity."
