A MAN who stole six guns and thousands of pounds worth of possessions, from two Gloucestershire properties, has been jailed for three and a half years.

Anthony Mullane, 26, previously of Headley Court, Quedgeley, burgled two properties in Gloucestershire and went on the run to Ireland.

He admitted breaking into and stealing from a flat in Southgate Street, Gloucester, on March 5, 2016, and a farmhouse in Pillows Green Road, Staunton, on July 5.

During the second theft six guns were stolen from two cabinets in the house and valuable jewellery was also taken.

He appeared at Gloucester Crown Court via video link from prison on Monday and agreed to sign over £1,180 under the Proceeds of Crime Act.

The findings of a financial investigation found that Mullane had made over £7,000 but he now only has assets of £1,180 available for confiscation.

Mullane has made eight previous court appearances for a total of 30 offences.

When he was sentenced in May, defence solicitor Jon Lynch said his client had been under the influence of drugs and alcohol at the time of the raids. He wished to express his ‘genuine regret and remorse.’

While in Ireland - where he spent eight months facing extradition proceedings - he had sorted out his drug and drink issues, he added.
