ON Jojo Mehta’s letter about integrity in politics.

Posted by Paul Robeson’s ghost: Stroud has never been or will it ever be a Green strong hold. The Green Party’s share of the vote has gone down each time over the last three general elections and there are many more Labour members in the area than Green.

Posted by Salendine: There is nothing kind or principled about buying the votes of the young. I am not a Labour voter but respected Corbyn for his consistency and integrity....right up to the point where he bought the votes of the young by bringing forward to this year the promise to pay their uni fees. It’s a policy I am in favour of but this particular move was simple electioneering. Nothing principled there. St Jeremy he isn’t now that he has had to go through the messy business of an election. Probably more of an effective leader as a result but beware of taking the moral high ground.

Posted by Lucian Aeris: Integrity has been called for in politics since politics was invented. Until parties are willing to face the credible allegations of child abusers operating throughout the establishment, it can not exist.

Posted by robertpaterson3: It’s amazing to me that so many British people have forgotten the thousand dead military personnel who died for nothing because the Labour Party wanted to please George W Bush. WMD was a lie. The Labour Party lied to the British public and hundreds of orphans resulted but that doesn’t matter now. The British people have forgotten and once again voted for the Labour liars. I’m glad that I never served in the forces and I wouldn’t advise any young people to do so either. It turns out the British are not worth risking your life for. Your death will mean nothing to them.

Posted by mmaxab: Actually it was Blair who lied to everyone not the Labour Party, I liked him up that point, now I think he’s a war mongering scumbag and needs locking up.

Posted by Haloge: The sooner we have a more sensible and representative PR electoral system the sooner we may be closer to a democracy worthy of the name.

On the problem of cars being damaged in Slad Road, Stroud.

Posted by Nick Mills: I suggest proper traffic calming. Slow them down at the 30mph limits coming in from Stroud with physical barriers and a couple of 20mph flashing signs. Glos police said a few years ago that it was not a problem!

Maybe I’ll get on to them again.
