County Fours Semi-finals

DURSLEY overcame Tetbury on the last end of their semi-final match in the County Fours held at Bishops Cleeve.

The quartet of Brian Packer, Dave Smith, Brian Burleigh and Kinder Hinder (Dursley), beaten at this stage last season, stormed into a 10-0 lead over Steve White, Malcolm Curtis, Roger Bird and Pete Stinchcombe (Tetbury) before having their lead cut back to just a single shot as they lost the next five ends.

A four put them five shots ahead before Tetbury clawed their way back and with a three and a two on the 15th and 16th ends they moved into the lead 16-15.

Dursley then went in front by two shots and by the 19th end the scores were level 18-18. A two on the 20th end put Dursley back in front and with Tetbury chasing the double on the last end lost out as Dursley picked up a four for a 24-18 win and a place in the final.

It was even tighter in the other semi as Winget toppled Cheltenham after an extra end.

Both winners will now meet in the County Finals at Moreton-in-Marsh on September 3 and will also represent the county at the National Championships at Leamington in August.
