A PENSIONER from Stroud was found dead when neighbours became worried after not seeing her for days.

Hannah Perkins, 65, was found dead on the carpet at her home in Field House Gardens, Stroud on January 18, this year, an inquest heard today.

Senior Coroner for Gloucestershire Katy Skerrett concluded that evidence pointed towards death by natural causes, however she could not be entirely sure as two weeks passed before Ms Perkins’ body was discovered.

In a statement to the inquest, PC Sian Garland said she was on duty on January 18 when a neighbour raised concern for the welfare of Ms Perkins.

The neighbour said they could see groceries on the kitchen worktop but had not seen Ms Perkins for days.

On entry to the house, PC Garland saw Ms Perkins face down on the carpet.

A statement to the inquest from forensic specialist Tim Wells said Ms Perkins had been dead for at least two weeks.

Tissues which appeared to be blood stained were also found upstairs.

It is believed Ms Perkins was ill with cellulitis at the time of her death, having visited Beeches Green Surgery in Stroud on December 14.

Ms Perkins was asked to return for another check-up but failed to do so, saying she would visit A&E.

Ms Skerrett said: “Medically, despite a full examination, we cannot have a cause of death.

“The groceries on the worktop were delivered on December 21 and we suspect she died soon afterwards as this would fit in with the forensic report.

“Evidence points to natural causes, however I cannot be sure.

“Police believe this death to be in no way suspicious and therefore I am going to leave it open.”
